Hemlock hails from Las Vegas, and their debut release Bleed the Dream is now available on Candlelight Records. This band plays plays brutal yet melodic metalcore that has certain similarities to acts such as Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Sevendust, Shadows Fall, and Chimaira. Bleed the Dream features 12 songs, most having a certain level of brutality, with just enough melodic nature to make this fairly accessible to most modern metal fans. In fact, I'm surprised Victory or Roadrunner Records did not scoop something like up, as it's a release that you would normally find on their labels, which might be a great snatch for Candlelight in the long run. Plenty of crunchy breakdowns ensue on this platter, highlight tracks being "Jacob's Ladder", "Becoming", the brutal "Suffocate the Truth", and the crunchy "The Platinum Lie". Bottom line is Bleed the Dream is a feast for fans of Hatebreed and Pro-Pain, but don't expect too much originality here, cause your not going to get it.
