This isn't the first time that this'n here writer has crossed paths with Widow and it probably won't be the last. The North Carolina unit still comes off like the kind of barely above hack level metal you're likely to hear during a wet t-shirt contest down at your favorite local meat rack––kind of like Paul Stanley fronting an American NWOBHM band, kind of like the guys who grew up worshipping Van Halen and Frehley but haven't progressed much beyond that point. (Hey, there's even a cover of "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" and "I Stole Your Love." Proof positive? Maybe.) The originals are nothing to write to your local grocer about––"We Will Meet Again" and "Beware The Night"
could have served as incidental rock music in either Iron Eagle IV or Fright Night 15: We've Give Up On The Roman Numerals––but at least these cats seem earnest about the gruel they're serving up for a public that would no doubt rather be listening to Bible Of The Devil. My guess is that these guys are the envy of most of the cats in their National Guard units and score big time with single moms in the greater Raleigh-Duram area who once upon a time imagined themselves as groupies for Nasty Savage or Keel.
