Upper Midwest rock trios such as Slander, Two Cow Garage and PB Army all have one thing in common––they're dark, dirty and hell bent on good times. This particular outfit brings grunge and something that could be nü metal into the mix, swirling it around multiple layers of Black Oak Arkansas-inspired riffery and bong-loaded action across "Who Are You," "Konflict" and "You're Not." What all this amounts to is a sound that pigeonhole's the collective as a pretty good meat-and-potatoes bar band, of the kind you'd drop three bucks for at your local dive and kinda sorta half listen to while you pull back pitchers of the cheapest domestic on tap. Shadows And Ghosts is a fairly impressive effort but nothing to ride all the way to Kentucky––or Ohio––for.
