Melancholic and mysterious might describe the music contained on Worship by Tides Within. Songs are typified by characteristic slow beats, baritone heavy guitars and a vocal style that ranges from clean hums to deathly groans. Songs like "Transform" really sink in after return plays with their warm thickness that is: ambient, somewhat retro, and maybe "a little bleak". The songwriting is clearly based off a state of mind as much as a musical idea; lending more of an implied emotional connotation to the listener, than just a harmonic concept. This is especially true in "Longing" where you find the band defining themselves through much instrumental interplay. Way to go! Especially interesting, is that they create a "totality of effect" without resorting to the excessive trip that so many get lost in. Overall, the band just creates a feeling of authenticity that makes this release an attractive package. The only thing I would change is to have the band add just a little more progressive edge to the compositions as implied in many of the songs, but this is really admirable for a first full-length release.
