Hard to find much to rave about on this latest release from Sharaab, the Atlanta based producer, composer, and DJ, whose CD Evolution is a collection of synthesized blips, beeps, techno & industrial beats, hip-hop grooves, and Asian melodies. At times it's mildly entertaining electronica, but at others it falls into somewhat confusing and meandering Indian folk/World music. There's no denying that Sharaab knows how to layer sounds and plaster the musical landscape with some dense instrumentation using a variety of sources, but I'd like to hear him do more of what you get on the spacey, futuristic prog rocker "Imcomplete", which features some emotional lead & whispered backing vocals, throbbing bass riffs, stabbing synth lines, and electronic percussion. Fans of more structured material might become easily frustrated here, so if your tastes run toward the metal or heavy prog end of the spectrum, you might want to stay away from this little oddity. However, if you have a soft spot for ambient, electronica, and World Music styles, by all means dig in.
