With the Chick Corea Elektric Band in the mid 1980's and early 90's, saxophonist Eric Marienthal gained the respect of legions of fist-pumping Return To Forever fans with his melodically vicious chops. On his latest solo album Just Around the Corner, the now sought after studio veteran is naturally more assured than ever, as he bops, croons and weaves his delicious licks through a new crop of originals like "Blue Water", "I Believe in You", "21 Ocean Front", and many more. As both a writer (he co-writes every track) and player, Marienthal is fully accomplished; his compositions are as sure and memorable as his playing. This is a highly recommended set.
