With eleven #1 records and 6 Top Ten records in their native Switzerland, Gotthard have released their 12th CD, Domino Effect on Nuclear Blast USA Records. Domino Effect is more of Melodic AOR Rock than Metal and reminds the listener of a more powerful in your face, Journey or '80's Hard Rock band Victory, although there are metallic glimpses of Accept and Krokus throughout.
With 14 slick and polished tracks (there are 5 bonus tracks for a total of 19 songs) that find themselves very user friendly for the Melodic Hard Rock fan, Domino Effect is a pretty solid record. The musicianship is really good, but Gotthard's main focus is on vocalist, Steve Lee. He possesses a great raspy, "Steve Perry meets late '80's David Coverdale" type of voice, that lends itself well for ballads and rock tracks. A talented singer, for sure! Check out highlight songs like, "Heal Me", "Come Alive" and "Master of Illusion" for great performances all around.
If you are a fan of Melodic Hard Rock with rockers as well as ballads, then give Gotthard's Domino Effect a listen. It is well produced, with good radio themed classic rock tunes and great vocals.
