Rosetta: Wake/Lift

The new 7 track CD Wake/Lift, a 63 minute opus from Philly experiMetal band Rosetta, is a dark, daunting and depressing piece of work that is best described as a soundtrack to a killing, with thickly mixed and textured guitars and manic rhythms that exudes abrasive tendencies and other mental collapses of the mind.

The album delivers a mix of the relieving and the bombastic. From the mellowed out drum lines of the 3 part epic "Lift" to the crushing riffs of "Red in Tooth and Claw", the exploration of both beauty and devastation is well represented throughout the entirety of Wake/Lift. The musicianship is well delivered and very well thought out.

Wake/Lift is a true thought provoking record, that finds Rosetta in touch with their underground experimental sensitivities that puts them somewhere in between the trippiness of old Pink Floyd, the Metal styling's of Down and the Stoner Rock dynamics of a Kyuss. If this sounds like you, strap in for a long strange ride.
