For comparative purposes only: At first I thought that one might simply pair Type O Negative with the greatest Ozzy Osbourne Band -- the version that matched Rudy Sarzo's jigglin' bass with the amazing Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) -- and the peculiar plot dynamics of the No More Tears album, add the infidelity and post-punk, Neanderthal chaos that is early Carnivore/Type O. bring the sludge to a boil, and have Poisonblack.
Now I'm not sure. [It's about 10 minutes into the album, and I agree with the myself of 10 minutes ago that, indeed, Zakk Wylde might as well have added his fabulous fingers to this outing. But then I think of latter-day Paradise Lost, and of Metallica, and of this post-metal earnestness that scrapes emo but escapes intact.]
It's a beautiful album, though the title's a mouthful, and no matter what I may infer about its derivations, they're mild compared with the sacred beauty that is Poisonblack. I hope they arrive on our shores very soon, Finland's greatest next to label-mates Lullacry, who feature instead the proper replacement for Britney Spears in her post-JT cocaine spiral.
