With a gun-centric name like Load Point Pull, this Missouri band better be heavy, violent and lack all sense of subtlety. Check, check and check. Load Point Pull's second album, Down in Flames, is one massive fireball of industrial-fused modern metal that will sear your ears. No wonder these guys have shared the stage with the likes of Anthrax and Puddle of Mudd.
Load Point Pull actually broke up a few years ago before resurrecting the name with a few new members. Frank Campobasso wraps himself into a fury as he sings songs about loners and posers, dissing loyalty and dying young. A dual-guitar attack (and I do mean "attack") fans the flames, and a rhythm section that's as subtle as a sledgehammer keeps it all kickin'. Through it all, Load Point Pull never loses sight of the melody target. And the acoustic ballad-turned-headbanger "Change," with neat-o multi-part harmonies, proves it's not too late for these guys to take the band in new, more adventurous directions — provided they don't break up again.
