You have to admit, Weekend Warriors, if nothing else, is a fun CD that surely could be the soundtrack to any college dorm party. Secret Lives! of the Freemasons specialize in a hook laden brand of poppy metal with just the slightest hint 'o core behind it. Picture Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, with a touch of Avenged Sevenfold or Bullet For My Valentine, and you have a good idea of what to expect here. Lots of catchy melodies abound on tracks like "Mascara", "Dirty Laundry", and "Feels Like Home", but the key is that these guys actually know there way around their instruments, so you can expect some sizzling guitar riffs and rock solid rhythms throughout this 12 song set. Sure, the beer swigging anthem "Chug And Leave" is hokey as all hell, but with some inspired pinch harmonics and a few head banging moments, it might be mandatory at your next keg party. Vocals are clean and sugary, with the occasional gruff passage, offering up plenty of radio airplay potential on your favorite alternative rock station. So, is Weekend Warriors anything you haven't already heard before? Probably not, but what these guys do they do well, so if you like poppy & punky metal with plenty of infectious hooks, you've come to the right place.
