Almost six years to the date since Course of Nature released its debut CD, Superkala — featuring the hit single "Caught in the Sun" (surely, you remember that one?) — the American band returns with Damaged. Label trouble, a change in personnel and family commitments kept Course of Nature from recording its sophomore effort sooner than originally anticipated. But a new record deal and the success of vocalist/guitarist Mark Wilkerson's songwriting chops with other artists have given Course of Nature a second chance.
Part of the buzz might be because Wilkerson is married to hot television star Melissa Joan Hart ("Sabrina The Teenage Witch"). Or maybe because he wrote the smash single "It's Not Over" for former "American Idol" contestant and best-selling rocker Chris Daughtry. But Course of Nature can stand on its own — thank you very much — with a hook-filled hybrid of Nickelback and Alter Bridge that (while not necessarily original) sounds distinctly fresh in the United States circa 2008.
Songs like "The Window," "Forget Her," "Time Is Slipping Away" and the lead-off single "Anger Cage" reveal a band passionate about its craft, eager to recapture the spotlight and proud to make rock music that appeals to the masses.
