To celebrate the 10 year anniversity of atmospheric post-rock/extreme metal pioneers Isis, Ipecac Recordings have released a 3-song Maxi single titled Holy Tears, which most should remember as one of the standout tunes from the band's excellent 2006 release In the Absence of Truth. Also on this single is the brutal "Not In Rivers, But In Dope", a noisy mix of death metal and King Crimson-ish cacophony. Obviously the real treat here for Isis completists is the 8+ minute live version of "Holy Tears" in all its savage and graceful glory (recorded live in 2006 at the Continental Arena in NJ) as well as the video for the song. As good as the content is here though, there's very little of it. It would have been even nicer if Ipecac would have added a few additional live tracks to make this even more worthwhile for the casual fan. As it is this is mostly a must have for loyal Isis followers only.
