Chained is the recently re-released 2005 sixth album from Germany headbangers At Vance, it is the last to feature dynamite vocalist Mats Leven, and it's more of a melodic hard rock album that seems to stem from the late Eighties (with songs like "Heaven," "Live for the Sacred" and the title track) than some of the heavier power metal ("Tell Me," "Run For Your Life," "Now Or Never") on which At Vance built its reputation and in which it indulged on 2007's VII.
Bonus track "Who's Foolin' Who" comes off sounding like a wannabe Whitesnake ballad, while the other bonus cut, "Flight of the Bumblebee," is a quick metallic take on the famous orchestral interlude composed by Nikolai Korsakov. This album is essential for At Vance fans (who probably already own the record), but casual listeners will either take it or leave it.
