There's no denying that the Motor City Madman Ted Nugent still has it when it comes to a live performance. This live DVD companion to the Sweden Rocks live CD more than makes up for the limitations of that set, as you can certainly look past Nugent's vocal limitations these days and see how the guitarist still remains an absolute showman. Plenty of Gonzo classics are included here, such as "Stormtroopin' ", "Wango Tango", an absolutely crushing "Free For All", "Dog Eat Dog". "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang", and of course "Stranglehold" and "Cat Scratch Fever". Sharing the stage with the guitar legend are drummer Mick Brown (Dokken) and bassist Barry Sparks (UFO). Many of Ted's newer songs leave a lot to be desired, but his crunchy guitar work is always a pleasure to hear despite how juvenile the song might be. This set at the Sweden Rock festival is expertly shot, with great sound, and the DVD includes some great bonus features, like three tunes from 2007 (including a sizzling "Journey to the Center of the Mind") and some intimate footage with Nugent on the gun range and bow hunting.
At 60+ years old, Ted Nugent is still one hell of a guitar hero, and an American treasure.
