After the esteemed Laser's Edge released Feel. Melt. Release. Escape., Anti-Depressive Delivery's 2004 debut a modern technical and aggressive mlange of frantic guitars, hyperkinetic keyboards and enthusiastic vocals the Norwegian band left the label, broke up and soon reformed with a far less aggressive sound. Now, four years later, Anti-Depressive Delivery leans more toward the Flower Kings, Ritual and Pain of Salvation. Chain of Foods opens strongly with the album's best song, "Starchaser" an upbeat Spock's Beard-meets-Yes hybrid that re-establishes the band and the quartet takes a decidedly classic rock approach to "Terminal," channeling Kansas, while echoes of Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues can be heard in "Blood Is Blood."
While less adventurous than Feel. Melt. Release. Escape., Chain of Foods (available on Musea Records) will be more universally appealing to progressive-rock fans.
