Pretty solid death-core from this Minnesota collective known as With Dead Hands Rising. Expect Hell features plenty of behemoth roars from singer Burke VanRaalte, and some huge guitar riffs courtesy of Ty Inhoffer & Logan Branjord, both of whom have a real knack for the solid crunch as well as melodic harmonies. In fact, that's what saves Expect Hell from being your 'average run-of-the-mill' death/grind/core affair. These two guitar players throw down some tasty riffage on tunes like "Ultima", "Piles of Burning Bodies", and "Concentrated Contamination", coming across as a Lamb of God/Metallica hybrid, with a dollop of Iron Maiden thrown in for good measure. While it's all very brutal and somewhat machine-like, chances are if you've tired of this sort of thing Expect Hell might not set your world on fire, but what With Dead Hands Rising do they do well. A few of the members are also from Dead to Fall, and with that band's recent demise I'm wondering if this outfit will now be the full time gig for all involved?
