When I think of Space Metal, Aryeon is the first one that comes to mind. Well here is another, X-WORLD/5 ("The Future Of Metal" as it reads on the cd cover) is a new project with the likes of Andy La Roque (King Diamond) , Magnus Rosen (ex Hammerfall) and Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind). X-WORLD/5's debut New Universal Order isn't what I expected especially if youre a fan of their other material, X-WORLD/5 is really quite different. I have to give them credit as it would have been much easier to release something more familiar but they haven't. It's still metal though and there are some quite heavy tracks present on here. As you would expect, there are a lot of effects utilised to create a cyber/space like atmosphere throughout the 9 tracks which is also echoed in the song titles, "Cyberchrist" being my favourite track here with it's pounding metal sound. You really need multiple listens to appreciate New Universal Order as it is is certainly a grower, once isn't enough to judge this fairly. It may not be to everyone's tastes and at times there is a lot going on at once so a straightforward metal cd this is not. But if you are looking for a more original, modern sounding metal band with a very talented line-up then give X-WORLD/5 a go.
