Jennie Tebler's Out Of Oblivion, besides being quite a mouthful of a name, is a new metal band formed by Swedish vocalist Jennie Tebler along with Fredrick Rhodin (lead / rhythm guitarist) and Kent Jadestam (bass / rhythm guitar). Together they have crafted an album combining different styles of metal, the result of which is that Till Death Tear Us Part is a contrast of music that's heavy at times but also has many lighter moments.
The popularity and number of female fronted metal bands has increased, probably helped by the success of bands like Epica, Nightwish and Within Temptation. Some of my favourite metal bands have female vocalists; they most definitely have a place in what is a male dominated music genre. Jennie Tebler shows she's a competent vocalist and all those involved do a good job on their respective instruments. Problem is there is a level of dullness about this release. It's just not a terribly exciting CD that would have you rushing for the replay button after listening. Till Death Tear Us Part is a solid yet unspectacular release- it's not all bad, just in need of more catches to draw you in.
