The Man Closing Up is a debut five track CD from death metal band Ehnahre. Ehnahre are a five piece band from Boston, made up of some former members of Kayo Dot. According to the information supplied, "The Man Closing Up is a concept record based on texts of Donald Justice, mixing the brutal aggression of death-metal with the torturous effects of contemporary doom". Given the material on The Man Closing Up this pretty well sums up Ehnahre's sound.
I really don't know what to make out of this one, is this what you call experimental death metal? There are no lyrics supplied so who knows what the guy is singing about amongst all the grunts. The songs sound at times like they are improvising as they go, so is this just a live recording of a jam session? There are times on here with nothing much happening at all, which made it really difficult to rate. End result is a CD that I found really hard to 'get', so I thought it best to give it no rating and let you be the judge if you want to take the plunge.
