It is the calm intro before the approaching front, the siren sounds and the thrashing has begun; this is the latest from Female fronted Thrash Metal band Holy Moses titled Agony of Death. Guitarist's Michael Hankel and Oliver Jaath unleash destructive riff after riff, Sabina Classen's aggressive vocals come bursting through your speakers with hefty support from Atomic Steiff on drums and Thomas Neitsch on Bass.
Being a Thrash metal album guitars dominate Agony Of Death, so don't go looking for ballads on this one, as there's non of that pussy footing nonsense on here, only hard metal. "Imagination" gets the proceedings thrashing and is one of many fun head bangers. There is some brief respite with instrumental moments between the ferocity, giving the album a short-lived, almost tranquil feeling, not what you would expect on a Thrash album.
Agony of Death is the twelfth release from the twenty year plus veteran thrasher's Holy Moses. This is my first taste of the band and is supposed to have "more contemporary influences, complexity and diversity then any previous Holy Moses recordings ". This is a good release, and Holy Moses should be around for plenty more.
