Zebrahead: Phoenix

Zebrahead, the Southern California, post Punk/Nirvana outfit has a new CD called Phoenix. The 16 track CD, co-produced by famed producers, Howard Benson (Blindside, POD, My Chemical Romance) and Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Social Distortion) is a great sounding disc, as you would expect from these two vets. Fans of the Power Pop or Green Day-ish post Punk happy sounding rock will probably enjoy this record.

Phoenix is a fun sounding CD, with very little pretentiousness going on. It's pretty easy to hear that Zebrahead enjoys what they are doing and it does translate well into their songs, if you like this type of rock. Zebrahead mixes Ska, Pop, Alternative Rock and Punk all over Phoenix, so fans of these styles will find something to enjoy. Standout track, "Morse Code For Suckers" is a good example of what these guys are capable of. High energy & fun.

While this reviewer is not a fan of this genre of music (to be honest, I just don't get it), fans of Zebrahead & this genre will most likely enjoy Phoenix quite a bit. It's a well produced CD & sonically pleasing. Zebrahead has been around for quite some time now and 2008 shows no signs of them slowing down.
