NDE: End of Trust

With a wall of killer guitars, some really cool basslines and the odd hooky melody or two, it's hard to imagine why I just couldn't get into this band. Maybe it's that, given the style of angry metal they play, nearly one hour of music is well beyond enough. Maybe it's that the kind of shouted/screamed vocals so prevalent throughout this record have been done to death as of late. I don't know. But I'm betting that we're only getting half the story here. NDE, like an overwhelming number of their contemporaries, drop hints left and right on disc as to the power of their live shows. There are moments here, where you think that in the warts-and-all live setting certain tracks would come off sounding more like they were produced by human hands and human hearts rather than recording studio devices. Still, this is not a record absent of heart, just one with not enough heart in it.
