Did you ever think John Carpenter's Halloween theme would suit a heavy metal song? Well it does, just have a listen to "Hellborn" on Raise Hell's Wicked Is My Game. In fact, I could see Michael Myers head banging to this one as he chases down his next unlucky victim, actually given the song titles he may like a lot of this.
The Thrash metal album Wicked Is My Game was originally released in 2002 on Nuclear Blast and now has been re released by Metal Mind Productions. Apart from the use of the above theme combined on the opener with a cool instrumental passage and complemented with some nice riffing, I wasn't overly drawn to this, main problem being the vocals aren't bad but just failed to really hook me. Shame, as besides this the band give some great performances on here delivering the listener with some impressive thrash. Since the original release Raise Hell now have a different vocalist so it would be interesting to hear the difference. Wicked Is My Game has many catchy moments that impressed like on the title track but I just wish I could get into the vocals. Then again we all have our own tastes, I'm a big King Diamond fan and his vocals don't appeal to many others that I know.
