Far from being your run of the mill thrash band, Conquest unleashes its fury
upon the unsuspecting public with their album End of Days. Led by the
charismatic Derrick Brumley on lead vocals and guitar, he is the voice that will
lead this Conquest of the rock and roll world. There are few singers that are
born to do this. Derrick is on of those lucky ones who possess the pipes for
real metal vocals. The deep resonating timbre and gnarly delivery falls some
near the vicinity of James Hetfield of Metallica. This band, although there
roots are deeply planted in ground that was first broken by groups like
Metallica, still manage to create an original and potent sound that is nothing
short of pure heavy metal thunder from start to finish with one exception. The
power ballad "Empty" is the eye of the storm in this well done piece of thrash
that will easily keep you entertained with many trips to the CD player. With
enough pick squeals to make Zakk Wylde take notice and the distortion pedals set
to Tony Iommi + 10, these guys know just what kind of rock and roll grabs you
and keeps you coming back for more. So when you have the problem of what music
to put on the next time the Hell's Angels stop by for brunch, look no further.
These guys have the balls to even put those wimps in their place!
