Sometimes a band gets lost in the shuffle. Such is the case with Tank. They
were a hard rocking band from England who was one of those groups that everyone
knew but not well enough to own one of their CD's. Now, like they say hindsight
is 20/20, the Tank collection is getting re-released because their music is
being recognized as instrumental in the growth of the 80's heavy metal scene.
Power Of The Hunter is their second release and one that has been highly
sought after by fans of the genre. So Metal Mind Productions has put together a
package with 3 bonus cuts and gold pressing for those that have been craving a
good dose of Tank.
Filled with the kind of fist pumping metal anthems that helped to drive kids
into a frenzy, Tank delivers a mega dose of heavy metal sure to get the heart
racing with its guitar fueled, high energy package. One thing about them that
might have kept this band from going on to bigger and better things is they seem
to, at times, be playing the same song over and over. Although there is not a
bad tune on here (other than the unneeded drunken sounding "Oh, What A Beautiful
Morning" added as a bonus track) the songs seem to blend together and not one of
them seem to stand out. This power trio is relentless and will bring back
memories of groups such as Triumph, Def Leppard and a little bit of Foghat
thrown in for good measure.
This album, originally released in 1982, does get the benefit of new
technology and the sound is a lot cleaner than the original. So when you want to
crank out the vintage heavy metal at high decibel levels, this is an album that
will rip through the speakers like a TANK!!
