
The re-issue of this classic metal album gives a whole new audience a chance 
to hear what we in Michigan have known for years. From the beginning, Halloween 
is a band that just rocks! This underground cult classic is a much sought after 
release by collectors of heavy metal. At least now you don't have to pay the 
outrageous cost on eBay for the original album.
Here's the opportunity to learn about one of the premier bands to come out of 
the Detroit heavy metal scene. For those already familiar with them, it is a 
chance to get reacquainted with a group that helped to make Michigan one of the 
rock and roll capitols of the United States. 
They have always been a band to choose their own path. That is one of the 
reasons they stayed independent and never signed with a major label. To them, 
the music is the most important thing and they decided to follow the much harder 
road of self promotion and distribution instead of losing the integrity that 
fueled the band. This music is what the band wanted you to hear. Sure, it is raw 
and the does not have the benefits of a major studio, but it also doesn't have 
the tampering of outside hands either. 
I heard it said how Halloween sounds like so many other bands out at the 
time. Well if the truth be told, it was really a matter of how many bands at the 
time sounded like Halloween. I can remember how putting the needle to the vinyl 
on this record would send chills up and down the spine. Brian's high pitched 
vocals and original guitarist Rick Craig churning out some of the most 
infectious riffs, this album was one that I truly wore out. With its spooky 
theme that takes you into the world of ghost, goblins and witches, it is a rock 
and roll excursion through a Saturday night spook show double feature. With the 
creaking doors, the eerie backwards lyrics and frightening stories, Don't 
Metal With Evil is to rock and roll what Elvira and Sir Graves Ghastly is to 
the horror movie genre. It is good campy fun with a solid background rooted in 
heavy metal. 
Sounds of broken glass and a drum roll by Bill Whyte, followed by the bass 
thumping of legendary George Neal is the intro that greets you. By the time Rick 
Craig tears into the opening number Busted, you already know that this is going 
to be an excursion on the rock and roll express. When Brian Thomas wails "Let's 
Go" you are fully in headbanging mode! From this furious beginning it is a 
relentless onslaught of metal that takes you into every dark corner and makes 
you want to check under the bed before your feet hit the floor. 
For any fan of heavy metal, this album is a real treat. For those that are 
interested in the history of rock and roll, this is an absolute must have. For 
anyone else, this is just great fun from start to finish. Known as Detroit's 
Heavy Metal Horror Show, Halloween is one of the bands that make you realize 
just how much fun this music is.
