Agenda of Swine: Waves of Human Suffering

Agenda of Swine is the new band made up of members of Benumb and Vulgar Pigeons, and their debut on Relapse Records Waves of Human Suffering is a quick 13 track collection of brutal grindcore, hardcore, & death metal, though heavier on the first two styles. With most of the songs in the 2-3 minute range, the CD speeds along pretty fast, plenty of crunchy guitar riffs and inhuman drum blasts making up the arrangements to each song, but the lead vocals of Pete Ponitkoff might not be everyone's cup of tea. There's no death metal growl to this guy, his old school hardcore bark and irritating screams grate more than anything else, not really adding much to these otherwise pedestrian songs. Tunes like "Decimation Of World Trade Through Organization" and "Anatomy Of Social Issues Problem" start off with some potential, but are over before they have any chance to progress into something meaningful, and Ponitkoff's vocals just kill any chance that a song like "Amongst The Forgotten" has of being memorable. As you get towards the back end of the CD, each song sounds practically identical, the same drum work blasting away underneath familiar riffs and the non-stop onslaught of uninspired vocals. Death metal lovers beware-this one's mainly for grind & hardcore fans only.
