Level- C is a Cleveland, Ohio, four member, all female metal group whom formed in 2002. This is a surprisingly heavy self titled debut, vocalist Christine Maynard, guitarist Christina Crago, bass player Janean Marie Buch, and drummer Misty Everson's collective efforts have resulted in some attractive metal.
Christine Maynard provides a hard edge with her heavy duty vocal style, growling with aggression through tracks like the rocking opener "Ignite Us", supported by guitarist Christina Crago, who dispenses many hefty riffs on each of the ten tracks. According to Christine Maynard "The Lyrics were written about real experiences. The music was constructed with real emotion. When I listen to the songs, it's like opening a diary of my life". Does it get any more real than that? Level- C also used their multiple live performances as a trial to gauge reactions from their audiences, as they picked out material that would eventually end up on their debut.
If you like straightforward crunching heavy metal, Level- C sure has ample amount of it on their first release. If you need proof that a female band can perform just as hard in a male dominated domain this is it.
