The reissue of Tank's fourth album by Metal Mind Productions gives the lovers of 80's metal a chance to hear Tank's most polished album to date. On this disc the band whose raw power and high energy music was credited as one of the influential sounds of the era, takes a turn toward the mainstream with mixed results. The album starts out with a pair of killer tunes in "The War Drags Ever On" and "When All Hell Freezes Over". Both songs are what you would expect from the hard rocking boys, but after that the group seems to make a change that sounds like an attempt to gain more radio airplay. The title track "Honour And Blood" still rocks but lacks the punch of the previous songs. Tank then gives you a remake of the song "Chain Of Fools" which is definitely not their forte. The attempt to make this into a piece of metal does not come off well at all. The rest of the album drifts toward a sound that lacks the raw feeling that is their bread and butter. I get the idea that they were trying to broaden their fan base with a much slicker sound. Although they still rock, it is not with the intensity that you expect from this band.
For the reissue, Metal Mind has added the track "The Man Who Never Was" from the Japanese version of the album. This song is more along the lines of the old style Tank! It is a worthy addition to this disc.
Overall, Honour And Blood is a good rockin' album but not their best work. That most certainly doesn't mean to forget it. It still is a worthwhile piece in the history of the band Tank.
