Mirror of Souls is a fine example of what makes a top Metal CD. Eight tracks with one, the title track "Mirror Of Souls", running over an epic 22 minutes, Theocracy do a stellar job entertaining the listener in style with Melodic Power Metal. Athens band Theocracy were founded by vocalist/guitarist Matt Smith, and their self titled debut released in 2003 saw Matt playing all instruments and vocals, the resulting album enjoyed much success with fans of the genre. Jon Hinds and Shawn Benson would join the band later on to provide guitar/vocals and drums.
"A Tower of Ashes" commences with some cool keyboards following into a mid paced groove, but don't be fooled as this one soon morphs into classic swift Power Metal. "On Eagles' Wings" is a cool track which has a memorable epic chorus, and "Laying the Demon to Rest" is an impressive multi tempo banging metal number with some great dominating guitar riffs. Highlights of Mirror Of Souls would have to include the vocals, clear powerful production, and replay value. The epic title track finishes the album in style, "Mirror Of Souls" is a culmination of various elements including progressive touches, never failing to hold your attention during the duration, and it's a great end to a standout new metal album from Theocracy.
