Kimaera's music is classified as Symphonic/Atmospheric/Doom/Death metal... don't think they missed anything; Ebony Veiled is a splendid album. Founded by vocalist/guitarist Jean-Pierre Haddad in 2000, Ebony Veiled is the bands full length debut released in 2006 after the "God's Wrath" single from 2004. Some lineup changes have followed since with vocalist Sabine departing along with the drummer and keyboardist, after the album was completed.
Ebony Veiled is brimming with haunting atmosphere, the album sounds terrific for this style of music, capturing Kimaera's vast performance. Kimaera's male singer deploys many dark growls blending in with clean tranquil female vocals, with eerie heavy guitar riffs complemented with clever drumming and penetrating keyboards. Commencing with "Disarray" a brief well executed dark track the album continues with Kimaera dispensing a plethora of fine metal on the way.
Ebony Veiled is one of those albums with which you just want to turn off the lights, crank it up, shut your eyes and let Kimaera's creation take you away.
