Baltimore Progressive Indie metal group Isthmus's maiden full length release is Land Bridge, which sees the band yielding many heavy enticing technical compositions. Isthmus are doing there own original thing on Land Bridge so to speak, not trying to emulate anyone which is great to hear.
Isthmus commenced in 2005 when guitarist/vocalist Noel Mueller and drummer Chris May formed the band. Guitarist Matt Hogans and bassist Joe Kienle would join in 2007 and complete the lineup. They entered the studio in spring of 2008 to record Land Bridge.
Vocals are quite mixed ranging from softer tones of title song "Land Bridge" to angry screams in "On Curl Of Sand", but the instruments are the predominate feature of Land Bridge. Isthmus's talented members don't hold back, pulling off multiple odd time intricate passages with ease. Fans of dynamic complex music will appreciate this release.
