Here's another Metal Mind Production's metal re-release, this time of the Progressive Power Metal band New Eden's album Obscure Master Plan. The production is clear enough but more bottom end wouldn't have hurt and would have helped to boost this album up a few notches in the bass department. I'm surprised Metal Mind was not able to rectify this somewhat during the remastering process.
Obscure Master Plan is solid without being a standout album of the genre. I was hoping to really enjoy this but not enough hooks were present overall I'm sorry to say. The guitar playing was probably the most memorable component with some nice licks; the vocals are ok and the drumming sufficient. I listen to a lot of Power Metal and this album does show potential, so maybe future release from this band can deliver more.
Also of note -according to the New Eden site there was a message about this re-release not being sanctioned by the band. New Eden will be doing an official dual re-release, of the original Obscure Master Plan and a complete re-remixed version plus extras. So then you will have two versions to choose from of this album.
