One thing about stoner rock, you don't have to be original or unique to be successful. That is a good thing for groups such as Eighteen Wheels Burning. While they have come out with an album that is filled with the heavy distorted guitar music that is the forte of this type of sound, I would have to say that after repeated listens to this disc that there is nothing on here that is what I would call noteworthy.
Reminiscent of the early 70's style of heavy metal fuzz, with the occasional nod to groups like Cactus or ZZ Top, Eighteen Wheels Burning tries very hard but never seems to inspire. There is just too much of the album that has the "I have heard this before" feel.
The strongest feature is Adam Valk and his forays into some nifty little solos now and then. "Third Reich Trucker" has him delivering a bluesy bit of six string work that is damn good! The song "AMA" is another neat little bit of southern rock that sounds like something you might come up with after repeated plays of La Grange. The problem is that these moments are too far and few.
