Sir Hedgehog: Sir Hedgehog

If Billy Squier made stoner rock back in the day, he might have sounded something like Sir Hedgehog does on its self-titled U.S. debut – initially self-released only in Canada. With a singer named Jonas Fairley, who either intentionally or not mimics both Squier and Ozzy Osbourne, plus a thick and churning vibe that lifts freely from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rush and Soundgarden, this Vancouver-based quartet has crafted a memorable album in a not-so-memorable genre. There's even a hidden bonus-track version of Blondie's "Call Me." Just ignore the irritating song titles – "Chu Da Phat," "Bitchlord," "The Cleavage and the Clamp" – and enjoy this raucous ride that sounds amazingly like both yesterday and today.
