Hades is a band that always was on the brink. With a little luck they could have been the next big thing. Unfortunately on the brink is where they stayed. There is a lot of talent in the band, especially with this line-up of Ed Fuhrman, Dan Lorenzo, Alan Tecchio, Tom Coombs and Jimmy Schulman.
While this disc does capture the band in their heyday, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Shot with a hand held video camera from the front row stage right, the resulting tape definitely qualifies for the term bootleg. The sound of the seven tracks on this disc matches the video in quality. It will take a true die hard fan to sit through this for more than the occasional look.
Now the documentary included on the DVD is very interesting. The history of the band as told by the members themselves has many great moments. The live footage in this section resembles something that could now be recorded with a camera phone.
The band did produce some very serious thrash metal. While the music that they made was very good for it's time, this is just not the best representation of it. Hades fanatics rejoice! Others beware.
