Eclectic group pushing red buttons gives you a lightweight romp through the world of airy pop/rock with their fourth release; the butterfly net. Drawing much of their sound from the happy-go-lucky 70's Brit pop genre, comparisons to the likes of XTC are inevitable.
Employing some very fine guitar work throughout this unassuming disc, there is a real feeling like talent is being wasted with this most ordinary album. These brief six string workouts are really the only thing that may keep you entertained. To me, the music seems uninspired and very bland. Much like the way they use no capital letters makes their name blend in to the surroundings, so does the music. Most of the songs are interchangeable with nothing that sticks with you after the disc is done.
I cannot say that there is anything in particular wrong with the album, it is just one of those disc that can play in the background and you might not rush to shut it off, but by the same token you will not hurry to hit the repeat button either. If you have a need for some filler music for whatever activity you might be engaging in, look no further. pushing red buttons gives you an album that will never distract you from what you are doing.
