" The combined effort of renowned sound masters ALIO DIE and MATHIAS GRASSOW brings us Expanding Horizons , a 2xCD bestowal of deep, evocative experimental atmospherics and electro-acoustic
soundscapes. Playing ambient's static tendencies off of shifting melodic and textural passages, ALIO DIE and GRASSOW combine their specialties in an enchanting convergence of lighter-than-liquid electronics, lush, hovering tonestreams and enticing sonic ecosystems. "
Translation : This is New Age Ambient fluff to the power of 10.
If any of you have ever purchased self-help cassettes where you've actually enjoyed the music, then this double CD is just your ticket. A theta-wave inducing chord is played and sustained for the length of the track while discordant 'atmospherics' fade in and out. The tracks seem to have no beginning, no end, and no middle . Just imagine an orchestra tuning up for 10 minutes without really playing a single note. What is supposed to be relaxing ends up being nerve-grating instead. I'd compare this disc to the refrigerator humming at night. It may be soothing at first, but you feel quickly relieved once it ends.
Trying..to..review..this…disc (yawn) ..while ….actually (yawn and stretch)… listening …to ….it…can
….be …a very….daunting…..task…..Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
