There is a time and place for all types of music. With the mini disc Arak, Sujo test this theory with the single song, 20 minute piece of ambient noise. They call it shoegazing, which is a new musical term to me. Using the guitar pedals to create their sound, the term was created by watching the guitarist stare at his pedal board so much that it looked like he was "gazing" at his shoes.
While this disc did not hit me as something you are going to have in your player on a regular basis, there is times when you really wish you had one of those white noise machines to drown out what is going on in the background. This disc will help you out in that respect. The drone of this disc builds a wall of sound that sufficiently erases the outside noises you have around you.
It might be a hard concept to grasp and even a harder one to hold your attention, this disc is one that fans of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music will welcome with open arms.
Arak does have a terrific package. The hand numbered limited edition is set to 100 copies and includes some cool drawings of dinosaurs fighting on the cover.
