Chinchilla:Madtropolis

Cool stuff from this German quintet, though the best track here is far and away keyboardist Artur "Jeff" Diessner's "Satellite," a scrumptious little sing-along number that belongs spread all across radio. But there are other moments, too, "A Dance With The Devil," "Money Rules Everything," and the unforgettable "Heavy Metal," which borrows a bit from The Who's "Pinball Wizard." Ex-Motorhead madman Fast Eddie Clarke shows up on "When The Sand Darkens The Sun," while Mystic Prophecy vocalist Roberto "Lia" Liapakis provides backing vocals elsewhere.

The most memorable metal album of the year? No. A pretty good one? Yes. Let's hear more from Diessner in the future, eh?
