With enough hair spray and sappy lyrics to make David Coverdale cringe, Hurricane tries hard to emulate every cock rock cliché that was popular at the time on their second release Over The Edge. While it's hard to tell if the album title refers to the music on this disc or the production quality of Bob Ezrin, it really is one of the most aptly titled discs you will run into. Most of the music is of the "you heard it before" quality and except for the fine vocals of Kelly Hansen, very ordinary. Hansen has an exceptional voice and it is a shame to see it wasted on such material as this.
Ezrin, who has worked magic with groups such as Alice Cooper and Kiss, should have been taken out to the woodshed for allowing this band to do the glam version travesty of the Cooper classic "I'm Eighteen". From there his wall of sound style has helped produce a disc that is best suited for your next 80's dance party.
Trying to give you the anthem like rockers that caused the stadiums of the era to shake with the foot stompin' rhythms produced, Hurricane along with the help of Ezrin, test your gag reflexes with this pretentious piece of work. Hurricane must have seen what was happening as their next release shows a band that is a leader instead of one that just ran with the pack.
