Yet another band to hail from Birmingham, the self proclaimed home of metal, Cerebral Fix looked set to become a key player in the UK death / thrash metal scene in the late 80's and early 90's but despite being signed to Roadrunner for a time and touring with Obituary, Napalm Death and Paradise Lost they never quite managed to make that all-important breakthrough. Locally they were much appreciated with blistering gigs at such long forgotten venues like the Barrel Organ where many bands started out. Continuing in their tradition of reissuing overlooked Metal releases, Metal Mind Productions have sought out Cerebral Fix's fourth and final album , Death Erotica, which originally appeared on Music For Nations back in 1992 and turned it into a limited edition package. In addition, and to their credit, they have added a host of bonus tracks that include appearances by fellow local boys Clint Mansell (Pop Will Eat Itself), Tony Mills (Shy), Andy Pike (Marshall Law) and Barney and Shane from Napalm Death.
Raw, unrefined and of course bone-crushingly heavy, Death Erotica saw the band continue with their brutal and gritty approach and fans of the aforementioned Obituary and Napalm Death will find much of interest here. When compared with their earlier releases there is less in the way of speed and they go for a slightly more restrained approach but without compromising the all out assault for which they were renowned.
