Dead Man: Euphoria

Dead Man hails from Sweden and is comprised of four experienced musicians who play a unique combination of folk and dare I say hippie rock mixed with a classic blues rock crunch. On their second album Euphoria the group effectively combines this mixture into a deep and rich sounding kaleidoscope of psychedelia that easily sounds like it could have been recorded circa the late 60's or early 70's. While the group does at times stray off into lengthy Grateful Dead inspired jam sections the majority of Euphoria is an eclectic mix of various different styles. Check out the relatively straight forward country rock twang of "I Must Be Blind" which features some sleek slide guitar work and a smattering of mandolin playing buried slightly beneath this distinctly warm sounding mix. The sprawling nine minute epic "The Wheel" is a roller coaster of a ride that segues seamlessly into "Rest In Peace" which also clocks in at almost nine minutes. Both of these compositions reveal the bands adeptness at crafting dark and ever shifting arrangements. Euphoria is solid from start to finish and has something to offer for people who appreciate any or all of the aforementioned musical styles.
