Evolotto: 6ixers

The best thing about Evolotto's second album, 6ixers, just may be its cover photo of cult actress/babe Michonne Bourriague (who played bounty hunter Aurra Sing in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace). This is rather melodic punk/thrash/hardcore noise, with traces of Voivod, Meshuggah and Helmet. Unfortunately, someone — either bassist/vocalist Schmid or drummer drummer/vocalist Ben — can't sing. Thus, many of these songs — boasting such delicate titles as "Capitaljizm," "Shine On You Crazy Starfucker" (which has no resemblance whatsoever to the similarly titled Pink Floyd masterpiece) and "Not the Gentleman Kind" — devolve into broken-throated yowls that'll make you wish these Ohio dudes were an instrumental power trio.
