Par Lindh Project: Veni, Vidi, Vici

Swedish keyboard virtuoso Par Lindh returns with another CD jam- packed with majestic and bombastic progressive rock. The mans penchant for classical tinged rock similar to what Keith Emerson practiced in E.L.P. for many years is in full force here. Once again joined by Magdalena Hagberg on vocals and violin, Nisse Bielfeld on drums, plus an assortment of classical and rock players filling in on bass, guitar, flute and horns, Par Lindh pulls out all the stops for a symphonic slab of progressive rock.

The explosive, instrumental title track allows the keyboardist to strut his stuff on the Hammond organ, which is probably his favorite instrument. Just for good measure, there is also a smattering of Fender Rhodes and Mellotron to boot. Vocalist Hagberg is in fine form on the aggressive "Gradus ad Parnassum", proving that she could possibly be Sweden's answer to The Gathering's Anneke van Gersbergen. Guitars on this CD are kept under wraps for the most part, and only appear on a few tracks, but with all the different keyboard sounds present they are not really missed.

While Veni, Vidi, Vici breaks no new ground for the PLP, it is still an awesome display of talent for the master keyboard player, and contains some great classical flavored melodies that are instantly memorable. Those into E.L.P., Gerard, Ars Nova, or Erik Norlander would be wise to check this out.
