This isn't related to the giant moth known from the Godzilla movies, which is what came up when I did a Google search for Mothra. Well this Mothra is no monster like insect, but in fact a Polish four member metal band, formed back in 2000. Now in 2009 we see the release of Mothra's second album, returning with the CD Dyes, "the music of Mothra will definitely appeal to the fans of Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge or Burnt By The Sun" so says their MySpace page.
The music on Dyes is much more stirring than the cover art, which looking at doesn't really give anything away about what music is contained within. Just an observation, but it's the music that Mothra are playing which we are interested in.
The tracks on Dyes, whilst being quite extreme with the accustomed gravelly vocals of Egon Warynski, does show that Mothra have a level of complexity in their music. Mothra's other members being Daniel Szwed on drums, Andrzej Burzynski on bass
and guitarist Pawel Stefan Rosiak, are able players on their instruments, implementing odd time signatures, in conjunction with a bombardment of hardline brutal hardcore rampaging. Dyes isn't a long album by any means, but Mothra are kept very busy for the most of it.
