In the little town of Tutling Germany sometime in 1991 the band Axxis did a pair of shows to sold out crowds of screaming metal fans. They knew something that too many have not discovered, Axxis is a terrific band and a really treat on stage.
After only two studio albums, the band decided to do a live recording and Access All Areas is a fine tribute to what they can do with a crowd before them. They deliver a very good dose of high octane rock and roll! As with most live recordings, this one has the pumped up band blazing through the material at breakneck speed. Each song is energized to the point that you wonder why they bother with studio work! Lead singer Bernhard Weiss is as aggressive as I have ever heard him. He fills this album with a power that will take you back to the days of the big stadium rock shows. The band is tight and the sound is excellent for a live recording.
As they tear through songs like "Kingdom Of The Night" and "Touch The Rainbow" it isn't hard to imagine being in the middle of a screaming, head banging mob who is pumping fist to the music as the band fires them up. Axxis is good at this and it makes for a great testament to their performance. They even throw in a cool instrumental number called "Trash In Tibet" which lets Walter Pietsch show off his skill on the six string.
When they slow it down such as on the song "Tears Of The Trees" you can just see the lighters filling the stadium. This underrated band from Germany shows off their variety on this disc and it makes for a most entertaining bit of old time rock and roll. If you love your music live, this is an outstanding example of a very good band showing what they can do in that setting. So, turn the volume up, open the windows and just rock out!
