Regular readers to SoT will be aware by now that we are huge fans of the Polish label Metal Mind Productions who aside from releasing some top quality new albums also undertake a detailed re-issue campaign of long lost Thrash gems. The latest release is Acid Drinkers Infernal Connection, an album that dates back to 1994 and was album number six from the Polish thrashers who remain active and have just marked their 20th anniversary. The cover to Infernal is immediately attention grabbing, depicting a chicken carcass wearing a Venom t-shirt (apparently all the rage with poultry back in the mid-90's).
Musically the album is very direct, in your face, thrash with the songs delivered quickly and without much fuss. Riffs are kept simple with plenty of distortion and the occasional breakdowns have some cleaner sounding guitar work from Popcorn. Vocally Titus ranges from bark and growl to scream and perfectly fit's the bands style although lyrically it is difficult to tell what is really going on apart from self-explanatory titles as 'Drug Dealer'. All of the songs are in English apart from closing track 'Konsument' and as a bonus there are four remixes of the albums highlight 'Slow and Stoned' which finds the band dropping the breakneck pace and boasts a memorable rhythm.
Acid Drinkers are a new name to me and I guess from that perspective some liner notes about the bands history around the period of this release would have been a welcome addition to the package. However, this is only a minor point as overall this is another very nicely done re-issue.
