Thyrane: Hypnotic

Despite some deft riffing, some interesting harmonic explorations and the undeniable talent of all those involved with this project (especially guitarists Blastmore and Auather) Hypnotic limps across the finish line rather than racing across it, arms held high and proud. Much of that has to do with the fact that the vocals seem to sit passively while the rest of the landscape moves, breathes and takes on a life of its own. There are fine moments here (a few more tracks like "Heretic Hunt" would have never hurt this albums chances for greatness), they just get weighed down by the less fine ones.
